My practice centres around themes of nostalgia, exploring objects from the early 2000s that were pivotal to my interests and development. Using video games as a form of escapism and exploring fantasy worlds within these games was one of the few breaks I had from the negative aspects of my childhood. Reflected in my work are glimpses of moments of calm and play within the tumult of my childhood, fond memories depicted throughout, reminiscent of these objects and games.

Textile is my medium of choice when creating sculpture. I use quilting to make colourful swaths of fabric, similar to the over-the-top patterns and motifs seen within the early 2000s. I am innately interested in the rift between artwork and viewer, exploring ideas of interactive art within my practice, allowing people to have a sensory relationship with my work rather than just a visual one. Viewers of my work are invited to ‘play’ with the sculptures I create, allowing my work to be removed from the traditional politics of a gallery space.
